Rehabilitation at Mangoola

At Mangoola open cut coal mine, we continually look for areas of improvement across all areas of the business, including rehabilitation.

Location

The operation is based in the Wybong area, 20 kilometres west of Muswellbrook and 10 kilometres north of Denman in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales.

Ownership

Mangoola Coal is 100% owned and operated by Glencore.

In 2020, Mangoola Open Cut celebrated 10 years of operation and has mined over 100 million tonnes of the coal reserve.

On 26 April 2021, the Mangoola Coal Continued Operations Project to was granted development consent SSD 8642 which provides for continued open cut mining adjacent to the north of the existing mine. For more information, visit our Mangoola Coal Continued Operations Project page.

  • Upper Hunter Show – the annual show held in Muswellbrook, packed with entertainment, exciting rides and sideshow alley action for the family—in particular, Mangoola sponsors the Upper Hunter Showgirl competition that acknowledges young women who are passionate about regional issues
  • Wanaruah Land Council Facilities Upgrade – our electrical and mechanical apprentices gave their time to significantly upgrade the local Aboriginal land council’s Muswellbrook premises.
